DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A68 AT LOTHIAN BRIDGE

July 23, 2025

  • Overnight full road closures

  • Daytime traffic lights from 4 August

Drainage improvement works are set to take place on A68 at Lothian Bridge, north of Pathhead, on Monday 4 August.

To ensure the safety of all road users and road workers, a full road closure will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. A signed diversion route will be in place between Pathhead and A6372, via Ford Road. Outwith working hours temporary traffic lights will be in place. All traffic management will be removed by 6.30am on Saturday 9 August.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These ongoing works will enhance drainage on this stretch of the A68, improving safety for motorists using the trunk road.

“This phase of these works involves full road closures and daytime temporary traffic lights which are essential to allow our operatives to carry out the work safely, however we will have the temporary traffic lights manually operated during peak times to keep traffic flowing efficiently. These closures are required to make key improvements to the drainage system of the historic Lothian Bridge.

“We thank road users and local communities in advance for their patience.”
