CORING INVESTIGATION WORKS SCHEDULED FOR M876 AND M9

March 25, 2022

  • Three overnight slip road closures required from Monday 28 March 2022

Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, is set to carry out essential coring investigation works on sections of the M876 and M9, which will result in three overnight slip road closures.

Signed diversion routes will be in place between 20:30 and 06.00 from Monday 28 March until the morning of Friday 1 April 2022.

For the safety of road workers and motorists, the following closures will be in place:

  • Works on the M876 Junction 2 eastbound off-slip will require overnight closures on Monday 28 March and Wednesday 30 March. A signed diversion will be implemented via M9 Junction 8 on-slip, M9 Junction 7 off-slip and the M876 Junction 3 off-slip where traffic will turn and head towards M876 Junction 2 westbound off-slip. This will add approximately 10 minutes (8 miles) to affected journeys.
  • Works on the M9 Junction 10 northbound off-slip will require one overnight closure on Thursday 31 March. A full slip closure with a signed diversion via Keir Roundabout will be in place, where traffic will turn and head back towards M9 Junction 10 southbound off-slip. This will add approximately five minutes (5.4 miles) to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These investigation works will determine the condition of the carriageways and are essential to the design and planning of future resurfacing improvements.

“Traffic management will be in place throughout, however, to help minimise disruption we’ve planned for the works to take place during night-time hours.

“We’d like to thank motorists for their patience while our teams carry out these works.”

Consultation has been carried out in advance with relevant stakeholders and access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
