BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out a six-week programme of works to replace the safety barrier and improve drainage on the A9 at the Trinafour junction, from Monday 15 June.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and are expected to last for approximately six weeks. No works will be carried out over weekends.
Some overnight working may be required.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, a 24-hour lane closure with a reduced speed limit will be in place. From Wednesday 1 July, the lane closure is currently planned to be in place overnight only, between the hours of 7pm to 7am.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Kevin McKechnie, BEAR Scotland’s North West Strategic Road Safety Manager said: “Following a review by our road safety engineers of the A9 dual carriageway area at Drumochter, a road safety improvement scheme is being implemented. The works involve upgrading the central reserve safety barrier to comply with modern safety standards and improving the drainage.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding while our teams carry out these essential works and ask that temporary speed limits are complied with to ensure our workers can go home safely to their families each day.”
