CARRIAGEWAY REPAIRS AT M9 JUNCTION 1A, KIRKLISTON

February 4, 2026

UPDATE 17 February 2026: These carriageway repairs on the M9 could not be completed as planned on 13 February, so have been rescheduled for the night of Wednesday 24 February. All other details remain the same.

  • Overnight slip road closure Wednesday 24 February 2025

The slip road from the M90 onto the M9 northbound at M9 Junction 1A, Kirkliston, will be closed for carriageway repairs between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of Wednesday 24 February.

A diversion route will be signposted via the M9 southbound to Newbridge Roundabout, where traffic can turn and join the M9 northbound. This will add approximately 4 minutes and 2.5 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It’s necessary to close the northbound on-slip at M9 Junction 1A to allow us to carry out repairs to the carriageway.

“We’ll do this at night to minimise disruption, however if you need to use this route on the night of Friday 13 February, please allow a few extra minutes for the diversion.”

Live traffic information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot or on X at @trafficscotland.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
