CARRIAGEWAY REPAIRS AT M8 JUNCTIONS 3 AND 4

August 4, 2025

  • Overnight slip road closures Thursday 7 August 2025

Overnight slip road closures to repair defects in the carriageway will be in place at M8 Junctions 3 and 4 on the night of Thursday 7 August.

  • The M8 Junction 3 westbound on-slip will be closed from 20:00 until 23:00, with a diversion route signposted via the A89 to M8 Junction 3A, adding approximately 1 miles and 3 minutes to affected journeys.
  • The M8 Junction 4 westbound on-slip will then be closed from 23:00 until 01:00, with a diversion route signposted via the M8 eastbound to turn and join the westbound carriageway at M8 Junction 3A, adding approximately 6 miles and 8 minutes to affected journeys.
  • Finally, the M8 Junction 4 off-slip will be closed between 01:00 and 06:00. A diversion route will be signposted via the M8 eastbound to turn at Junction 3A and return westbound to exit via the M8 Junction 4 westbound off-slip, adding approximately 6 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It’s necessary to close these slip roads to repair defects in the carriageway, however the diversions are relatively short and the works will take place at night, so we don’t expect this to cause significant delays.

“If you do need to travel on this route on the night of Thursday 7 August, our advice is to allow a few extra minutes for your journey.”

Live traffic information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot or on X at @trafficscotland.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
