CARRIAGEWAY IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A9 WEST OF BLAIR ATHOLL

May 20, 2026

  • Carriageway works from Tuesday 26 of May for 9 nights

  • Two-way manned traffic lights with convoy in place during works

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out essential improvements on the A9 at River Garry to Shierglas, West of Blair Atholl, from Tuesday 26 May for nine nights.

The works will take place between 7pm and 6am each night, completing on Monday 8 June. A reduced speed limit of 10mph will be in place, with all traffic guided through the works by convoy during operational hours.

Two-way traffic lights will be in place outside of working hours, to ensure limited traffic build up in the area. Speed restrictions will also be in operation during the day, as traffic will be running on a temporary surface with no road markings.

Access through the works sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Steven Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works will help restore the road surface of this section of the A9 improving driving conditions.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience during this time.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
