CARRIAGEWAY IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A85 NORTH OF MADDERTY

December 17, 2025

  • Carriageway works starting Thursday 15 January

  • Traffic lights with convoy until Tuesday 27 January

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential improvement works on the A85 north of Madderty from Thursday 15 January 2026

Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am and are expected to be completed by the morning of Tuesday 27 January. To protect the workforce, a reduced speed limit along with the temporary traffic lights will be setup on the approach to the site and traffic will be guided through the works, at 10mph, by a convoy vehicle.

Traffic management measures will be removed outwith working hours, however, speed restrictions will remain in place during the day as traffic will be running on a temporary surface with no road markings.

The Madderty junction will remain open throughout the works, and will be managed by three-way traffic lights while resurfacing operations are carried out in this area.

Access through the works sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works will help restore the condition of the road surface at this section of the A85 and improve driving conditions.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We’re grateful to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
