CARRIAGEWAY IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A85 BETWEEN CRIEFF AND COMRIE

January 21, 2026

  • Carriageway works to start on Thursday 29 January

  • Road closure with amnesties provided for vehicle access

  • Daytime lane closure on Monday 2 February

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential road improvements on the A85 between Crieff and Comrie. These works will cover a 250m section of the trunk road east of Comrie Croft from Thursday 29 January.

These carriageway improvements will be carried out between 7pm and 6am, on Thursday, Sunday and Monday night with works expected to be completed by the morning of Tuesday 3 February.

To protect roadworkers and the travelling public, this section of the A85 will be closed overnight. Amnesty periods provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted safely through the site under a 10mph convoy.

The road will be open as normal from 6am each day to keep disruption to a minimum, with a speed restriction of 30mph in place as traffic will be running over a temporary road surface with no road markings.

Furthermore, a lane closure with temporary traffic lights will also be required between 6am and 7pm on Monday 2 February.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These surfacing works on the A85 will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all motorists.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
