Update on 22 August 2025: Works on the A83 at Tayinloan have been delayed by one night and will now start on Monday 25 August.
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will undertake essential carriageway improvements on the A83 near Tayinloan starting on Monday 25 August for three weeks.
To protect the workforce and road users, the A83 will be closed from 7pm on Monday 25 August until 5am on Wednesday 10 September. Hourly amnesties will be available to allow road users to pass through the work site safely and continue their journey at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am 2am, 3am and 4am. There will no road closures on Friday or Saturday nights.
Following this a lane closure with two-way traffic lights and 10mph convoy will be in place between 7pm and 5am on the nights of Wednesday 10, Thursday 11 and Friday 12 September to allow the remaining carriageway improvements to be finalised.
The road will be open as normal from 5am each day to keep disruption to a minimum, however a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary road surface.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s Northwest Representative said: “These surfacing works on the A83 will fix existing defects in the area and improve safety for road users.
“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We’re grateful to the local community and road users for their patience.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that road users plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
