• Overnight local road closures 14 to 18 September 2026

Overnight works to replace joints and resurface the carriageway on the bridge carrying Moss Road over the M9 motorway north of Stenhousemuir are set to take place from Monday 14 to Friday 18 September.

For the safety of workers and road users, Moss Road will be closed between Drysdale Avenue in Stenhousemuir and Kersebrock Farm north of the M9, between 20:00 and 06:00 each night.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project.

Diversion routes will be signposted as follows:

• Southbound traffic will be diverted north via Moss Rd, east via the B9124, south via the A905, and west via Bellsdyke Road, adding an estimated 11.5 miles and 20 minutes to affected journeys.
• Northbound traffic will be diverted along the same route in reverse.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “This programme of repair is key to ensuring the structural integrity of this bridge.

“The works have been planned to minimise disruption to road users as far as possible, however some road closures are unavoidable. These will be limited to overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding while our teams carry out these essential works.”

All works are dependent on the weather and the existing condition of the structure, which can’t be fully understood until works commence and intrusive investigations are carried out. As such, the programme of works is subject to postponement, cancellation or rearrangement of dates in the event of adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
