Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to carry out joint replacement works on the northbound carriageway of the bridge carrying the M9 motorway over the railway between Junctions 1A and 1B near Winchburgh.
The works will take place on the nights of 16-20 and 23-27 June, with the northbound carriageway of the M9 closed at Junction 1A from 20:00 to 06:00 each night.
A diversion route for northbound traffic on the M9 will be signposted from Junction 1A to Junction 2, via the M90, A904 and B8046, adding approximately 5 minutes and 4.2 miles onto affected journeys.
Southbound traffic on the M90 wishing to join the M9 northbound will be directed to join the same diversion route along the A904 from M90 Junction 1A Queensferry. This diversion will add approximately 1 minute and no additional distance to affected journeys.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “It is crucial for the longevity of the structure that we replace these bridge joints, and a series of carriageway closures is required to do the job safely.
“The works will take place at night to minimise any disruption, however we recommend that motorists allow a few extra minutes for their journey if they do need to use this route.”
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
