As the major project to refurbish the bridge carrying the B792 local road over the M8 motorway between Bathgate and Blackburn progresses to the next phase, overnight lane restrictions are needed in order to adjust the traffic management.
Traffic on the M8 westbound will be restricted to a single lane between Junctions 3A and 4 from 20:30 until 06:00 on the night of Sunday 24 August. Traffic on the M8 eastbound will run as normal in two lanes through the contraflow.
From the morning of Monday 25 August, the contraflow will have two lanes open to traffic in both directions.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of these traffic management arrangements.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East unit Bridges Manager, said: “This bridge over the M8 is being refurbished to ensure it can continue to provide safe and reliable service for decades to come.
“Ongoing works include steelwork repairs to damaged beams, concrete repairs, installation of cathodic protection to increase the longevity of concrete elements, and repainting of all existing steelwork.
“We thank road users for their patience and understanding during these essential works.”
