The B792 between Blackburn and Bathgate will be closed over the weekend of 19-22 September and on the nights of 22-26 September, to allow repair work on the deck of the bridge carrying the local road over the M8 motorway.
The works are the latest phase in an ongoing major project to refurbish the B792 bridge, being carried out by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland.
The bridge will be closed to traffic from 18:00 on the night of Friday 19 September until 06:00 on the morning of Monday 22 September, from Riddochill Road on the south side of the bridge to the nearest access approximately 80 metres north of the bridge.
This will be followed by five consecutive overnight closures from 22 September to 26 September, from 18:00 until 06:00 each night.
During these closures, signed diversion routes will be in place:
Access for cyclists and pedestrians across the bridge will be maintained at all times.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of these traffic management arrangements.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East unit Bridges Manager, said: “This bridge over the M8 is being refurbished to ensure it can continue to provide safe and reliable service for decades to come.
“Extensive repairs are required to the bridge deck, which can only be carried out safely under a full road closure. We’ll do this over the weekend and overnight to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause some inconvenience and delays.
“If you need to use this route during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.
“We thank road users for their patience and understanding.”
