Temporary Traffic Lights in place for two weeks Sat 26 July – 9 Aug 2025
BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is planning to carry out bridge joint replacement and resurfacing works on Tower New Bridge on the A1, 2.4km south of Cockburnspath roundabout.
The works have been provisionally programmed to start on Saturday 26 July 2025, with temporary traffic lights in place 24/7 for a duration of 14 days to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the public.
The temporary traffic lights will be manually controlled during peak times. Some delays are to be expected, particularly during peak times, and motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time for their journeys.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East unit Bridges Manager, said: “It is necessary to manage traffic with temporary lights at this location to allow us to undertake these essential bridge works as safely as possible.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding during these essential works.”
