BRIDGE INVESTIGATION WORKS ON A835 NEAR GARVE

June 19, 2026

  • Two nights of overnight bearing investigations on Thursday 25 and Saturday 27 June

  • Single lane closure during the works

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out investigation works on the bridge crossing the Black Water River on the A835, approximately 8 miles north of Garve.

Two nights of works will be carried out between the hours of 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 25 and Saturday 27 June.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, the carriageway will be reduced to a single lane over the bridge for the duration of the works. Two-way traffic lights will be in place to safely manage traffic through the work site. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Richard Cook, BEAR Scotland’s North West Bridges Manager, said: “This investigation will assess the condition of the bearings on the bridge by measuring their movement and rotation over time. The bearings are essential components that support the weight and movement of the bridge and this investigation will allow us to plan future maintenance works.

“Our teams will carry out these works quickly, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the investigation.”
