Scotland’s leading trunk road operating company, BEAR Scotland, raised £2,066 for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) at its 14th annual charity five-a-side football tournament.
The event took place on Friday 24 April at Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre in Glenrothes. Eleven teams of seven BEAR Scotland co-workers competed against each other scoring goals for good in support of the vital work carried out by SAMH.
Chris Docherty, SAMH Account Manager, said: “The team at BEAR Scotland has once again shown its commitment to raising funds for, and awareness of, SAMH and the 70 services we run across the country.
“Strong partnerships like this support our mission that anyone in Scotland can ask once and get help fast with their mental health. Thank you to everyone involved!”
Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s Managing Director, said: “We have been hosting this tournament for over 15 years, and it continues to be well supported. As well as providing an opportunity for some healthy competition it gives us the opportunity as a business to continue to support SAMH, one of Scotland’s essential mental health charities.”
The tournament finale saw two teams from BEAR Scotland’s South East trunk road units face off in a closely contested match. After a tense 0-0 draw in the final, a penalty shoot out saw the Burghmuir BEARS take the trophy home with a 2-0 victory over Union BEARlin.
