BEAR SCOTLAND HOSTS CHARITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT FOR SAMH

May 4, 2023

BEAR Scotland’s annual charity five-a-side football tournament was held on 28 April 2023 at Bells Sports Centre in Perth. It saw co-workers from Scotland’s leading trunk road operating company turn into competitors to raise over £1,800 for SAMH on the day.

The football fundraising efforts for the mental health charity saw ten teams of BEAR Scotland employees and a referee from BEAR’s client, Transport Scotland get involved.

Iain Murray, BEAR Scotland Managing Director said: “This is annual tradition, which started in 2010. It is very important to us both in terms of great employee engagement but also in demonstrating our ongoing support one of Scotland’s important charities, SAMH.

“While we were unable to hold the event during COVID restrictions, we did ensure we made a corporate donation during the hiatus to signal our on-going commitment to them.”

As ever it was a hard-fought contest with two teams from each trunk road unit BEAR operates in, getting into the semi-finals it became a North West versus South East competition. However, one unit won out on the day with both South East semi-finalist teams making it into the final.

The battle between BEAR-celona and Queen of the South Anchorage was mighty but Queen of the South Anchorage took victory in a 3-1 finish.
