Strathcarron Hospice, which supports people and families across Forth Valley living with life-limiting conditions, has received a £750 donation from BEAR Scotland, Scotland’s leading road maintenance and management company.
Claire Kennedy, Strathcarron Hospice’s Corporate Fundraiser said: “Strathcarron Hospice is privileged to provide specialist palliative care to people in our Hospice in Denny and across the local community of Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. Our ethos is all about helping people to live well and when the time comes, to die well. We help people to make the most of the time they have left.
“With only a third of our funding coming from the NHS, we rely on the generosity of local people and businesses supporting our fundraising efforts so we are so grateful to have been nominated for this grant. This donation from BEAR Scotland will provide 24 hours of specialist care for a patient in our In-Patient Unit – a wonderful gift, thank you.”
The Hospice was nominated by BEAR Scotland’s North West Road Safety Engineer, Stuart Geddes, and Environmental Advisor, Catriona Conroy. Both have had close friends and family supported by Strathcarron Hospice and said the donation felt especially meaningful to them.
BEAR Scotland encourages staff to nominate local causes they care about through its Regional Charity Initiative. The programme is part of BEAR’s wider commitment to supporting communities along the M80 DBFO, where the company manages and maintains the trunk road on behalf of Highway Management (Scotland) Limited.
