ARGYLLSHIRE OXYGEN CHAMBER RECEIVES £750 FROM BEAR SCOTLAND

September 25, 2025

A charity offering hyperbaric oxygen therapy to residents throughout Argyll and Bute has received generous £750 donation from BEAR Scotland, the company responsible for  managing and maintaining trunk roads in North West Scotland.
BEAR Scotland operates locally from a depot in Oban, maintaining the A85 and A828 in the area, including Connel Bridge. As part of its Regional Charity Initiative, the company encourages employees to nominate good causes for funding, supporting charities that make a difference in the communities in which BEAR Scotland operates.
Nicola MacKechnie, Oxygen Oban’s Centre Manager said: “We are very grateful to BEAR Scotland for the very generous donation of £750. We currently have a waiting list, and this funding will help reduce that and offer oxygen therapy to more local residents.
“Oxygen Therapy provides relief for patients suffering from chronic conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia and Arthritis etc. It can also be used to boost the body’s natural healing process and help in wound healing and tissue repair.”
Kim Thain, BEAR Scotland’s North West Engagement Manager, said: “Oxygen therapy made a significant difference to the recovery of a close friend following a serious accident, and it highlighted to me the real value of the service provided by charities like Oxygen Oban. Supporting the centre helps ensure that the local community can continue to have access to this vital therapy.”
