AMENDED ROAD MARKINGS TO BE APPLIED ON A96 / A98 ROUNDABOUT EAST OF FOCHABERS

October 20, 2021

Work starts Thursday 21 October for two nights

Amended road markings on the A96 / A98 roundabout to the east of Fochabers are to be applied this week.

Following representations from members of the public regarding traffic movements at the A96/A98 roundabout to the east of Fochabers, BEAR Scotland undertook a review in consultation with Moray Council. The results of the review have now been progressed through the design of a new road marking layout that is to be implemented this week. On completion of the works, BEAR Scotland will continue to monitor the movements to ensure that the new layout is working as expected.

The project is expected to begin on the evening of Thursday 21 October and is scheduled to take two nights to complete, with works programmed to take place overnight.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, lane closures will be in place when required. A 30mph speed restriction will also be in place for safety. All traffic management will be removed when work is not being carried out to minimise disruption to road users.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “We’re pleased to see this road markings update get underway on the A96 east of Fochabers. This investment from Transport Scotland should alleviate any road user concerns with regards to the roundabout and has the support of relevant Moray Council services in making this change.

“The traffic management is essential to keep the workforce and road users safe during this project. We’ve planned works to take place overnight and have arranged for the traffic management to be removed when work is not being carried out to ensure minimum disruption to road users.

“We would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience during this project and advise them to plan ahead by checking Traffic Scotland for up to date journey information and leave some extra time to reach their destination.”
