A985 OVERNIGHT RESURFACING

February 24, 2022

  • Overnight road closures 2 and 3 March 2022

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is planning to resurface 500 metres of the A985 from Waulkmill to Charlestown on the nights of Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 March.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, the A985 from Waulkmill and West Road junction to Charlestown will be closed from 20:00 until 06:00.

During this closure, a diversion route will be signposted in both directions between Kings Road Roundabout in Rosyth and Cairneyhill Roundabout, via the B980, A823, A907 and A994. This diversion will an estimated 9 minutes and 2.5 km to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Access for public service buses will also be maintained.

Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will significantly improve safety and ride quality for motorists on the A985.

“Road closures are essential for safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
