The Kincardine Bridge will be closed for structural inspection works between 20:00 and 06:00 on the nights of Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 June.
The A985 trunk road over the bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions.
A signed diversion route for traffic on the A985 will be signposted between Toll Road Roundabout in Kincardine and Higgin’s Neuk Roundabout on the south side of the bridge, via the A977 and the A876 over the Clackmannanshire Bridge. This diversion will add an estimated 3.7 miles and 5 minutes to affected journeys.
The bridge will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians, and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Bridges Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the Kincardine Bridge to traffic while inspection work is under way.
“We’ve scheduled this at night to minimise any disruption, however if you do need to use this route during the closure, our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for the diversion.’’
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot or on X at @trafficscotland.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans in advance.
