A977 ROAD WIDENING: OVERNIGHT CLOSURE

October 21, 2022

  • Overnight road closure Monday 24 October 2022

  • Overnight traffic lights and occasional road closures until 5 December 2022

The A977 north of Kincardine will be closed in both directions on the night of Monday 24 October, as part of the ongoing project to widen the northbound side of the road on the approach to Gartarry Roundabout.

The road will be closed between Kilbagie Roundabout and Gartarry Roundabout from 23:00 on Monday 24 October until 06:30 on Tuesday 25 October. A diversion route will be signposted via the A876, M876, M9, A91 and A907 past Stirling and Alloa adding an estimated 20 miles and 30 minutes to affected journeys.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland began the road widening project on 17 October, advising that lane closures and temporary traffic lights would be in place between 19:30 and 06:30 each weekday night until Monday 5 December. No work is scheduled for Saturday or Sunday nights.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “This road widening scheme will reduce queuing and congestion around Kilbagie and Gartarry Roundabouts during peak times.

“We are able to carry out most of the works using lane closures and temporary traffic lights, however we do need to close the road completely on the night of Monday 24 October in order to keep our workforce and the travelling public safe.

“We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
