OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS

Works start Wednesday 28 April for two nights

A section of the A90 at Stonehaven is set to benefit from surfacing improvements with work set to get underway from Wednesday.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the A90 Toucks northbound off-slip and on-slip creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday 28 April and will take place over two nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am to minimise disruption to motorists.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a single lane closure on the A90 northbound will be in place. The northbound off-slip and on-slip will also be closed overnight with signed diversions in place. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “These essential improvements will help address defects at this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential for everyone’s safety however we’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight and removing all traffic management during the daytime.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
