BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be reducing the amount of traffic management present on Raigmore Interchange over the coming weeks as the Active Travel project enters its final stage.
From Friday 31 July, alterations to the daytime traffic management layout will allow two lanes to operate on the roundabout and key approaches, including the A96 and the A9, and the exit onto Millburn Road.
It is expected that all daytime lane closures associated with the Raigmore Interchange Active Travel project will be removed by Monday 10 August.
A series of evening and overnight lane closures will still be required until Friday 21 August, implemented Monday through Thursday between 7:30pm and 6am, to allow teams to complete road markings and final testing of the new traffic light system.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Gerard Kelly, BEAR Scotland’s Active Travel Manager said: “We are now entering the final stages of the Raigmore Interchange improvement project and expect all daytime lane closures to be removed by Monday 10 August.
“We ask road users to take extra time when navigating the roundabout area whilst the final stages of the works are completed.
“Once the new traffic lights are in operation, they will improve safety for those walking, wheeling or cycling to enhance active travel options within the area.
“We hope that all of the improvements will be complete by Friday 21 August and we thank road users and the local community for their continued patience.”
