A9 QUEEN VICTORIA SCHOOL SLIP ROADS

£85,000 WEEKEND SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS

Works start Friday 19 February

The northbound slip roads to and from the A9 near Dunblane are set to benefit from surfacing improvements with work set to get underway on Friday.

The £85,000 project will involve teams carrying out essential surfacing improvements to the slip roads near Queen Victoria School, ensuring the integrity and safety of the trunk road network at this location.

The project is scheduled to get underway from 7.30pm on Friday 19 February and is planned to take place over three days using 24-hour working, with all improvements expected to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 22 February.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the slip roads will be closed throughout the duration of the project. Traffic wishing to use the on-slip will be diverted onto the A9 southbound to the A820 interchange and back onto the A9 northbound.  A diversion will be in place for motorists wishing to access the off-slip via Loaninghead and back onto the A9 southbound to Queen Victoria.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in accordance with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance, will be implemented to protect teams and ensure they remain safe at all times.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “This £85,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A9, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works under a short diversion which will keep the traffic moving.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A9. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or via the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
