A9 NORTHBOUND OFF-SLIP CLOSURE AT PITLOCHRY’S PERTH ROAD JUNCTION

July 15, 2025

  • Riverbank works to resume on Monday 28 July at 6am

  • 24 hour slip road closure with diversion in place until Wednesday 30 July

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will carry out essential interim repair works on the A9 Northbound off-slip at Pitlochry’s Perth Road junction between Monday 28 July and Wednesday 30 July.

The works involve the installation of rock bags, rock armour and earthworks along a damaged section of riverbank adjacent to the River Tummel, which if not addressed could threaten the integrity of the road above.

To undertake the proposed works, the northbound off-slip from the A9 toward Pitlochry will be closed 24 hours per day, with site operations taking place between the hours of 7am and 6pm each working day.

For the duration of the works, all northbound traffic wishing to access Pitlochry will be redirected via the A924 junction north of Pitlochry. Southbound traffic movements between the A924 and the A9 at the Pitlochry south junction will be unaffected by the proposed works.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “It is essential to undertake these interim repairs at this time, so to minimise the effect of future inclement weather on the riverbank and the potential disruption that this could cause to the use of the A9 off-slip toward Pitlochry.

“We thank local residents and drivers for their patience. Our priority is to complete the work such that we can re-open the off-slip as quickly as possible, while ensuring the safety of those on site.”
