Update on 13 October 2026: Due to ongoing patching works on the A9, the A889 resurfacing works have been delayed by one night and will now begin on Wednesday 14 October. 

• Overnight resurfacing works begin Tuesday 13 October

• Works will take place at four locations

• Temporary traffic lights with convoy system in place for two phases

• Overnight road closures and signed diversions in place for two phases

• Project scheduled for completion by Thursday 5 November

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out essential road surfacing improvements at four locations on the A889 between Dalwhinnie and Catlodge, from 19:00 on Tuesday 13 October.

The project will be carried out in four phases, with the road closures generally implemented between Monday and Friday nights. Works will also take place on Sunday 18 October. See full programme below:

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager, said: “This resurfacing project will address defects at four locations to provide safer and smoother journeys for road users.

“Our teams will work overnight to complete these improvements as efficiently as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while the works are carried out.

“We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance and check Traffic Scotland for the latest travel information.”

All works are weather dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions are unsuitable.
