• Starting Tuesday 1 July for three nights
• 10mph convoy between 7pm and midnight

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking overnight geophysical surveys on the A835 at Loch Garve, 1 mile south of Garve, set to commence on Tuesday 1 July. The geophysical survey will establish the depth of the bedrock below the road.

The surveys will take place over three days:

• Tuesday 1 July between 9am and 5pm under the existing temporary traffic lights.
• Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 July between 7pm and midnight under a 10mph convoy.

In 2024, the safety barrier and supporting wall were damaged and temporary traffic lights were put in place to protect the road users. Inspections revealed that the supporting wall and safety barriers require replacement to ensure the long-term safety to motorists. The design of these is on-going and the geophysical surveys are an important part of the design process.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These investigation works are necessary to complete before the barrier replacement works can take place.

“We have timed this survey work to be in the evening to cause the least delay to road users as possible and have also taken ferry traffic into account. We understand that delays on the A835 are a frustration, and we continue to thank the local communities for their patience.”
