• A83 to operate under traffic management from 12 noon

Following a hillside inspection and safety review this morning, BEAR Scotland will move traffic back onto the A83 at the Rest and be Thankful from 12 noon today, Tuesday 16 April.

Using the Old Military Road during the spell of wet weather ensured continued access for those needing to travel through the area.

BEAR teams will continue to monitor the hillside regularly, inspecting the area where movement was recently observed. The A83 will continue to operate using traffic management.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “Safety is paramount and in response to the recent weather, we took proactive steps to ensure continued safe passage for all road users, keeping the A83 open. The trunk road is now returning to operation under traffic management and we thank everyone for their understanding. Argyll remains very much open for business.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland A83 Rest and Be Thankful and X @trafficscotland. Ferry options are also available, check www.western-ferries.co.uk.
