A83 AT REST AND BE THANKFUL – OLD MILITARY ROAD UPDATE

December 22, 2023

  • Further to updated forecast indicating reduced rainfall on Friday, traffic at the Rest and Be Thankful will remain on the A83 overnight on Friday 22 December
  • A further update will be provided on Saturday morning following review of forecast and hillside saturation.
  • Road users should however be aware that the current expectation is that A83 traffic will be diverted onto the Old Military Road Local Diversion Route on Saturday and overnight into Sunday.

Given the reduced rainfall now forecast today, traffic will remain on the A83 overnight on Friday. A further review of forecast and hillside saturation will then be carried out on Saturday morning with the current expectation that A83 traffic will be diverted onto the Old Military Road Local Diversion Route on Saturday and into Sunday. A further update will be provided on Saturday morning.

Our team continues to have a presence on site and are monitoring conditions closely. A further update will be issued if there is any change to the above traffic management arrangement.

Further to the rainfall event that occurred in October, the A83 at Glen Kinglas continues to be monitored and patrols will be in place here over the weekend.
