A83 AT REST AND BE THANKFUL – OLD MILITARY ROAD READY IF REQUIRED ON SUNDAY 21 JANUARY

January 19, 2024

  • Current forecast for Sunday indicates heavy rainfall and thaw conditions with yellow rain warning in place.
  • Forecast rain and thaw to result in significant increase in hillside saturation levels.
  • As a precaution, the Old Military Road Local Diversion Route will therefore be prepared in case required overnight on Sunday 21 January.
  • Diversion of traffic onto the Old Military Road will be subject to further review of forecast and conditions and an update will be issued if use of Old Military Road is required.

As a precaution and given the current heavy rain and thaw conditions forecast for Sunday, the Old Military Road Local Diversion Route is being prepared for possible use overnight on Sunday 21 January.  Diversion of traffic onto the Old Military Road will be subject to review of updated forecast and assessment of hillside conditions and saturation levels.  A further update will therefore be provided if use of the Old Military Road is required.

Our team continues to have a presence on site and are monitoring conditions closely.
