Overnight carriageway closures will be in place on the A823(M) on the nights of 3, 4 and 5 August, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out a variety of routine maintenance tasks.
Works to be carried out include grass cutting, drainage cleaning, sign cleaning, detailed inspections and road sweeping.
For the safety of road users and the workforce, the following closures will be in place:
On the night of 3 August, the westbound A823(M) will be closed from 19:30 until 06:00.
On the night of 4 August, the westbound A823(M) will be closed for the first part of the night from 19:30 until approximately midnight. The eastbound A823(M) will then be closed until 06:00.
On the night of 5 August, the eastbound A823(M) will be closed from 19:30 until 06:00.
During these closures, a diversion route will be signposted via M90 Junction 1 Admiralty, the A985 Admiralty Road and the B980 Kings Road, adding approximately 4 minutes and 1 mile to affected journeys.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the works in advance.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We’ll be taking advantage of these overnight slip road closures to carry out as many routine maintenance tasks as possible on the A823(M), reducing the overall need for closures and traffic management.
“It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway while work is taking place. Our advice if you need to use the A823(M) at night during this period is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.
“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their understanding.”
