A823(M) OVERNIGHT MAINTENANCE

August 4, 2025

  • Overnight carriageway closures 4-6 August 2025

The A823(M) will be closed in both directions on the nights of 4, 5 and 6 August, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out a variety of routine maintenance tasks.

The closure will be in place between 22:00 and 06:00 on the night of Monday 4 August and between 20:00 and 06:00 on the nights of 5 and 6 August.

Works to be carried out include grass cutting, drainage cleaning, sign cleaning, detailed inspections and road sweeping.

A diversion route will be signposted in both directions via M90 Junction 1 Admiralty, the A985 Admiralty Road and the B980 Kings Road, adding approximately 4 minutes and 1 mile to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the works in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We’ll be taking advantage of these overnight closures on the A823(M) to carry out as many routine maintenance tasks as possible, reducing the overall need for closures and traffic management.

“It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway while work is taking place. Our advice if you need to use the A823(M) at night during this period is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.

“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their understanding.”
