Carriageway closures will be in place on the A823(M) on the nights of 17 and 18 March, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to collect litter safely.
On the night of Tuesday 17 March between 19:30 and 06:00, the westbound carriageway of the A823(M) will be closed, with no access from M90 Junction 2 (Masterton). A signed diversion route will be in place via Junction 1C (Admiralty), the A985 Admiralty Road West, the B980 Kings Road, and Pitreavie Roundabout. This will add approximately 4 minutes and 1 mile to affected journeys.
On the night of Wednesday 18 March between 19:30 and 06:00, the eastbound carriageway of the A823(M) will be closed, with no access from Pitreavie Roundabout. The same diversion route in reverse will be in place.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the works in advance.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “Unfortunately a considerable amount of litter has been discarded from vehicles on the A823(M). It’s essential for the safety of our workforce that we close the carriageway while this is collected. We’ll do this overnight to minimise disruption.”
