A720 STRAITON LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT

  • Overnight slip road closures 23 September to 5 October 2026

Overnight slip road closures are scheduled on the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass at Straiton Junction, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out landscape management works, including removal of dangerous and diseased trees and other vegetation.

The following closures will be in place on Monday to Friday nights from 23 September to 5 October:

Straiton eastbound on-slip Slip road closure Traffic diverted westbound to Lothianburn Junction and returning eastbound.

Straiton westbound off-slip Slip road closure Traffic diverted westbound to Lothianburn Junction and returning eastbound to Straiton Junction.
02/10/2026 – 05/10/2026

Straiton westbound on-slip Slip road closure Traffic diverted eastbound to Lasswade Junction and returning westbound.

 

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the works in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close these slip roads while work is taking place. Our advice if you need to use the A720 at night during this period is to plan ahead and allow additional time for your journey.

“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their understanding.”
