A7 LANGHOLM TO SELKIRK ROUTE IMPROVEMENTS

  • Overnight closures between Langholm and Selkirk 31 October – 3 November

The outstanding works to the road markings and studs improvements on the A7 are scheduled for a total of four nights, from Tuesday 31 October to Friday 3 November.

The project will see Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, make improvements to the standard of road markings and road studs on the A7, creating smoother and safer journeys for motorists.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as the travelling public, the A7 will be closed at specific sections over the duration of the works, detailed in the table below. The works are provisionally proposed for construction from Tuesday 31 October to Friday 3 November, between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00 each night.

19:30 – 06:00 Full road closure with a signed diversion. Road users are to leave the A7 at Hawick and follow the A6088, B6357 and B7201 to Canonbie. This diversion will add approximately 7.7 miles and 20 minutes onto affected journeys.
A7 Hawick to Selkirk Fri 3rd Nov

(1 Night)

19:30 – 06:00 Full Road closure with a signed diversion. Road users are to leave the A7 at Hawick/ Selkirk and follow the A698, A68 and A699. This diversion will add approximately 13.7 miles and 20 minutes onto affected journeys.

 

BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager Tommy Deans said:

“Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.”

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
