A1 UPDATE: Overnight road closures for A1 Abbotsview Southbound

October 13, 2020

  • Closure scheduled for 20:00 to 06:00 on 22 and 23 October

Following recent resurfacing works on the southbound A1 between Bankton and Abbotsview, the carriageway will be closed overnight for two nights so that traffic counting loops, which provide data on traffic flows, can be reinstated at this location.

The overnight closures are scheduled for 22 and 23 October from 20:00 to 06:00. During construction hours, a clearly signed diversion route will be in place, which is detailed below:

  • Location: A1 Abbotsview Southbound
  • Duration: 22 – 23 October
  • Work Hours: 20:00 – 06:00
  • Traffic Management: Road closure with a signed diversion. Southbound traffic will be diverted off the A1 at Oaktree, via the A199 and re-join the A1 at Abbotsview. This diversion will add approximately 2.1miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These works will take place overnight to minimise disruption.  We thank motorists and the local communities for the patience during these works.”

This project has been planned in consultation with the Local Authority and emergency services.
