The northbound carriageway of the A1 from Gladsmuir to Bankton will be closed for resurfacing between 19:30 and 06:00 on Monday to Friday nights from Tuesday 4 November until Thursday 27 November.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will be managing the works.
A signed diversion route for northbound traffic will be in place between Haddington and Bankton Junction, via the A199, A6137, B3177 and A198, adding an additional 10 minutes and 2.2 miles to journeys. Southbound traffic will be unaffected.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We understand that carriageway closures can be disruptive, so we’ve planned for these works to take place overnight to reduce their impact.
“We’ll do what we can to ensure we mitigate noise disruption to local residents, including completing the noisiest operations by 11pm each night.
“We thank the local community for their patience while these essential improvements are completed.”
Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to inform them of the works in advance.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
