  • Overnight northbound closures rescheduled for 22 November 2022

  • Overnight northbound closures rescheduled for 11 November 2022

The A1 is set to benefit from an improved road surface, with a night of resurfacing works scheduled on Friday 11 November 2022.

The project will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland create a smoother journey for motorists as well as improving road safety.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and the public during the works, the northbound A1 at Thistly Cross will be closed overnight between 21:00 and 05:30 on 11 November.

Traffic will be diverted Northbound on the A199 to Abbotsview Junction.

Emergency services will be given access throughout the works at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will help to address the defects on this section of the A1 and will greatly improve the experience for motorists.

“It is essential for safety that we close the road during these works, however we’ve arranged for the project to take place overnight to minimise the impact.

“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland and the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
