A1 RESURFACING AT OAKTREE ON-SLIP

August 21, 2023

  • Overnight road closures at A1 Oaktree southbound on-slip from 5 to 7 September 2023

The A1 is set to benefit from an improved road surface, with Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland planning three nights of roadworks from 5 to 7 September 2023.

Resurfacing works are planned on the A1 Oaktree southbound on-slip, from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6 September and Thursday 7 September. No works are scheduled for Saturday or Sunday night.

The A1 southbound will be closed between the Oaktree and Abbotsview junctions, with a signed diversion in place via the A199, adding approximately 0.2 miles and three minutes onto affected journeys.

Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager Tommy Deans said: “These surfacing improvements will greatly improve the experience for motorists driving on the A1.

“It is essential for safety that we close the road during these works, however we’ve arranged for the project to take place overnight to minimise the impact.

“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot, or on Twitter at @trafficscotland.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
