A1 EDINBURGH TO DUNBAR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

  • Overnight road closures 6-19 April and 27-30 April 2021

Overnight roadworks are scheduled on the A1 between Old Craighall and Thistly Cross roundabout over a total of 16 nights in April.

The works will take place overnight from Tuesday 6 to Monday 19 April and from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 April 2021, between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00 with no works planned for Saturday nights.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans and to share information about the project in advance.

Emergency services will be able to pass through at all times and local access for residents living within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These overnight improvement works will improve safety for motorists using the A1 between Edinburgh and Dunbar.

“We’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise any disruption, however we encourage motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys if they do need to travel on these nights.”
