Engineers from SP Energy Networks will be undertaking essential work to upgrade the current network over the weekend which includes dismantling and rebuilding a section of overhead line which crosses the A1 at Haddington. By upgrading the overhead conductors we are ensuring a safe and resilient electricity supply for our customers.
The works will take place overnight from 20:00 on Saturday 1 October until 06:00 on Sunday 2 October.
While the works are taking place a stretch of the A1 between Oaktree and Abbotsview junctions will be closed in both directions. A signposted diversion will be put in place via the A199 Haldane Avenue and access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Our engineers will be working throughout the night to keep disruption to a minimum, SPEN would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause, we would like to thank all motorway users for their patience whilst we carrying out these essential maintenance works.
The onsite engineers will be working safely and quickly carrying out the overhead line dismantlement. The traffic management measures will be in place to ensure journeys are impacted as little as possible.
