A1 BANKTON TO DOLPHINGSTONE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT WORKS

July 14, 2022

  • Overnight lane closure from Monday 18 July for 10 Weeks

  • Overnight slip road closure 18-22 and 25-29 July

  • No works from 1 to 12 August

Overnight lane closures will be in place on the northbound A1 in East Lothian for ten weeks, beginning on the night of Monday 18 July.

This is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out drainage improvement works.

Lane one of the A1 northbound carriageway will be closed from before Bankton Junction to Dolphingstone Junction from 19:30 until 06:00 each night, excluding 1 to 12 August.

The slip road onto the northbound A1 at Dolphingstone Junction will also be closed to accommodate the works, on the nights of 18 to 22 July and 25 to 29 July. A signed diversion route will divert motorists via the A1 southbound to turn at Bankton Junction and return via the northbound carriageway.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These improvement works will enhance drainage on this stretch of the northbound A1, improving safety for motorists using the trunk road.

“Lane closures and some slip road closures are essential in order to allow our operatives to carry out the works safely, however we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise any disruption.

“We thank road users and local communities in advance for their patience.”
