£600,000 ROAD MARKING IMPROVEMENTS ON A85 BETWEEN TYNDRUM AND OBAN UNDERWAY

September 28, 2021

Works to continue for six weeks

A road marking improvement scheme is now underway on the A85 between Tyndrum and Oban

The £600,000 investment by Transport Scotland will see improvements made to the road markings between Tyndrum and Dunollie Roundabout in Oban.

Having commenced on Monday 27 September, the project is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions. No works are planned to take place over the weekend.

To ensure minimum disruption to motorists the works are planned to take place in phases as follows:

  • Phase one – Tyndrum to Connel Bridge Junction (five weeks)
  • Phase two – Connel Bridge Junction and Dunollie Roundabout in Oban (one week)

For the safety of roadworkers and road users, temporary lane closures and a stop/go traffic management system will be in place throughout both phases of the project. Traffic management will be operational between 7am and 7pm during the first phase of works and the second phase of works will take place between 9.30am and 7pm. No traffic management will be in place outwith working hours and over the weekend.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These essential road marking improvement works will allow us to improve the delineation of the carriageway on this section of the A85.

“The traffic management proposed is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and road users alike, however we’ve avoided working at the weekend to help minimise disruption as much as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
