£60,000 SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A90 SOUTHBOUND NEAR FORDOUN

SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A90 NEAR FORDOUN HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED

Please be advised that the surfacing improvements on the A90 southbound near Fordoun have been rescheduled.

The project was planned to begin on Wednesday 8 December however due to other schemes overrunning as a result of the recent adverse weather, works are now expected to begin on Sunday 12 December for two nights. The project will take place between 7pm and 6am each night, with all work anticipated to be completed by 6am on Tuesday 14 December, subject to weather conditions.

The traffic management will remain the same as originally programmed, with a lane closure with a 10mph convoy system in place on the southbound section of the A90 just south of Fordoun. The junction at Johnshaven will also be closed and a local signed diversion will be in place. All traffic management will remain in place during the daytime.

All relevant stakeholders have been made aware of the new dates for the project .

Works start Wednesday 8 December for two nights

 

Motorists using the A90 southbound near Fordoun are to benefit from resurfacing improvements worth £60,000, with works set to get underway on Wednesday 8 December at 7.30pm.

The  improvements will address defects in the road surface on the southbound section of the A90 south of Fordoun, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is planned to begin on Wednesday 8 December for two nights, with works set to be carried out between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. The project is anticipated to be completed by 6.30am on Friday 10 December.

To allow these works to be carried out in safe and efficient manner, a lane closure with a 10mph convoy system will be in place on the southbound section of the A90 just south of Fordoun. The junction at Johnshaven will also be closed during working hours and a local signed diversion will be in place. All traffic management will remain in place during the daytime.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £60,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management programmed is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists. Regrettably due to the nature of the works the traffic management has to remain in place during the day and therefore motorists might experience some delays.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
