£50,000 FOOTWAY IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED TO TAKE PLACE ON THE A82 THROUGH TYNDRUM

November 22, 2021

Works start on Monday 29 November

A £50,000 project has been announced that will see pedestrians benefit from improved footway provision next to the A82 through Tyndrum, with work set to get underway from Monday 29 November.

The project will see upgrades undertaken between Pine Trees Leisure Park and the Green Welly Stop.  The works to be undertaken will include footway resurfacing, kerb realignment and the installation of tactile paving. Minor upgrades will also be carried out to improve the performance of existing drainage system, taking full advantage of the traffic management that is required for the works.

The project will take approximately ten weeks to complete, with works undertaken between 7am and 7pm each day.  No works are currently planned for the weekends or during the festive period.

To keep roadworkers and road users safe, temporary traffic lights will likely be in place for the duration of the works. A temporary footway will be provided to allow pedestrians to pass through the site safely. All traffic management will be removed over the festive period.

Consultation has been undertaken with local residents, businesses, the local authority and emergency services to provide understanding of the works and the traffic management arrangements that will be in place.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “The works proposed at Tyndrum will see the upgrade of the existing footway facilities, greatly improving the quality and safety for pedestrians through the village.

“The traffic management required to undertake these works is essential to keep everyone safe, so we encourage all road users and pedestrians to follow any signs or temporary arrangements that are put in place.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible. We would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience during this project and advise them to plan ahead by checking Traffic Scotland for up to date journey information, and leave some extra time to reach their destination.”
