£35,000 ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT PLANNED FOR A83 EAST OF INVERARAY

March 18, 2022

Project set to begin on Monday 21 March for five days

A new road safety project on the A83 between Inverary and Garron Bridge is set to get underway from Monday 21 March.

The £35,000 investment from Transport Scotland will see teams installing 160 metres of safety barrier adjacent to the A83 to facilitate improved road safety, with a particular emphasis on motorcycle safety. New warning signage will also be installed on the approaches to the bends associated with the trunk road at this location.

The improvements are scheduled to start on Monday 21 March and are expected to take place over five days, with works taking place between 8am to 6pm each day. Works are expected to be complete by 6pm on Friday 25 March, subject to weather conditions.

To afford protection to roadworkers and motorists, lane closures with temporary traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit will be in place at all times throughout the project.  The continuous use of traffic signals is necessary as road users will be passing open excavations next to the roadside.

Commenting on the project, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “Road safety is a top priority at BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland, and this scheme is a continuation of our ongoing programme of work to improve  safety on the A83.

“The traffic management required for the works is essential to keeping road users and roadworkers safe.

”Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible, and we thank road users in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”
