£320,000 OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS, A90 INCHTURE TO LONGFORGAN

September 8, 2021

Works start Monday 13 September for five nights

A section of the A90 northbound near Moncur is to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £320,000, with work set to get underway next week.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 between Inchture and Moncur, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday 13 September and will take place over five nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with all work expected to be completed by Saturday 18 September, subject to weather to conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a lane closure with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed during the daytime however due to the nature of works, the lane closure and a 30mph speed restriction will remain in place.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £320,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential for ensuring everyone remains safe throughout the project, however our teams will do everything possible to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
