£30,000 SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A84 NEAR RUNACRAIG

May 20, 2021

Works to take place overnight on Monday 24 May

  • Overnight road closure in place for safety, 7pm to 7am

Motorists using the A84 at Runacraig are set to benefit from an improved road surface as £30,000 worth of resurfacing works are planned to take place on Monday night.

The resurfacing project will address a 160-metre stretch of the route, creating a smoother and safer journey for road users.

The project is scheduled to take place on Monday 24 May between 7pm and 7am.

Due to restricted road widths on this section of the A84, the road will be closed overnight to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. With no suitable trunk road diversion available, amnesty periods will be provided at the following times with traffic safely convoyed through the work site at 9pm, 11pm, 1am, 3am and 5am.  Motorists are encouraged to arrive prior to these times to ensure they are accommodated within the amnesty period. Emergency services and access for local residents will be maintained at all times.

Teams will return later in the week to install road markings however this work will be carried out under short periods of stop and go signs which will allow the A84 to remain open for road users.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This essential £30,000 resurfacing project on the A84 will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.

“To facilitate the works, the road needs to be closed to ensure everyone is kept safe, however we’ve taken steps to minimise disruption by scheduling the project to take place overnight with amnesty periods provided to allow traffic to pass through safely at pre-set times.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
